FAQ

Why choose a trombone, as opposed to other musical instruments?

What is an Arduino?
An Arduino is an open-source electronics platform. It is generally easy to use and implement within our assembly. It can receive input from several sensors to then output the readings through motors, lights, and speakers. Our Arduino is programmed to receive readings from the potentiometer to produce an output of a distinct pitch.

How do MIDI controllers work?
MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) allows digital and electronic musical tools to communicate with one another. MIDI is essentially a commentary dictating when and how pitches should play. Using MIDI with an Arduino allows the entire toy to work: by receiving and sending out "instructions", the trombone is able to make sound and "play".

What is the difference between a condenser and a dynamic microphone sensor?
Though both are commonly used microphones, the main difference between them is the way in which electrical signal is generated. Condenser microphones are powered by an external battery which causes a charge within the microphone. Dynamic microphones create an output voltage by inducing electromagnetic current.
